Spring 2010 Part Two: Beauties on the Runway

Other than the amazing clothing, handbags and shoes is the faces of the models. The beauty aspect of the runway is almost as well thought out as the couture. Here's some highlights from the runway. (Photo Credit: Style.com)

Christian Dior
This was one of my favorite looks. It was classic and colorful.

I'm lovin' the Glamour Age hair and the red lips!

To hold in the wigs, the girls had to get their hair braided under. I think it would look just fine without the wig, those braids are wonderful!

Pretty, pretty sky blue eyes.

Chanel

I love the highlights and the coral lips. Dare I say, fierce?

That hair is like Marie Antoinette and Lady Gaga's hair-child.

I can't get over the hair arrangement.

It looks even better in the back!

Marc Jacobs

This look is intense. Can't wait to go beauty window shopping for the materials!

Wonderful!

With eyes closed, it looks simple.

Versace
(This will accompany my review of her Spring 2010 collection. One word: Fabulous.)

Karlie Kloss is simply darling.

The purple eyeliner and the loose hair seems so easy but so...beautiful at the same time.

Simplicity.

Purple and nude.

Check out for Part 2.1 for where to buy!!!

A Note

I haven't updated in a while, but believe me when I say Periwinkle and Pearls is a thought in my head everyday. Everytime I go on my favorite Tumblr sites and see cute pictures of adorable outfits and neat things, I think of this blog. Even though I have one follower and hardly any views, I still like doing this. Ever since Lauren Messiah has given me advice, I really think this blog can work out. I have a ThisNext. The Facebook page for P&P is in the making and I eventually want to keep this website but write for blogs like College Fashion.

Thank you if you read this blog, tell your friends :)

Brands: TOMS Shoes

I love when I feel good about making a purchase. It could something I need, or something that I know someone is going to love. TOMS Shoes are one of those purchases. With the money from the purchase of the shoes, TOMS buys a pair of shoes for a child in need. And besides being extremely cool and helpful, they're cute! There is a color for everyone.

Top 3 TOMS
(I have a pair and they are tooo comfy! Like slippers, but better!)

These add a cute sparkle to the most simple outfits.

I like these because they are a step away from the traditional TOMS but are still adorable.

Hippies

I was watching the History Channel on my day off due to being exhausted. It inspired me to delve into my biggest fashion icons...the Hippies :)

This is the best dress I've found. I'm in love with it and I cannot wait to buy it! It is in it's entirety, hippie.

This is another hippie-to-the-core piece. It is a must have. You could wear it in spring or fall.... I would wear it with gladiators or leather sandals!

I really like this because it looks comfortable. You can throw this on any day and it could be unique every day. With shoes and jewelry, this dress is essential.

Other than being a hippie essential, this is a closet essential. This sweater is like Victoria's Secret 100 Ways Bra: The possibilities are endless. Hippies like me appreciate clothing items like this wrap because they go a million different ways and are simple.

Mini Style Lecture

I'm sorry for not updating, but I've been extra busy with school. I've taken up reading again (Beautiful Boy by David Sheff is FANTASTIC!) and started worrying about the rest of my life...Anyways. I had some encounters at school about style. What is style? What's the style? How are you IN style? Well here's my whole out look on it.

Style doesn't mean you are trendy or even "cool". Style is how you present yourself to the world. When you are dressed how YOU like and how you want the world to look at you, that's what you call style. You have to create it. Sure, you can look at all the fashion magazines, the blogs, the websites, the people and the stores, but style is not buying the same exact outfit that's on the mannequin. It's taking pieces from different places, or even pieces from the same place and making them who you are. You should emulate your personality, vivacious or plain. Even in your sweatpants days and your not-matching days. Be your best at all times. I've seen girls pull of their sneakers and sweatpants better than girls in YSL. Carry yourself. Have confidence in whatever you're wearing. It makes or breaks you. People say it all the time: Be yourself. It's true, to have style, you simply have to be yourself.

The Sweetest Scents

I love perfume...and lotion...and bodyspray.. I can't help myself when something smells good, I HAVE to buy it. Here's my Scent It List! :)

Perfume
Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy
This is my current scent. I've been wearing it for about a year now. I love it. When I put it on in the morning it instantly wakes me up. It's the right balance of fruity and warm. Buy it here.

Dior Miss Dior Cherie
I fell in love with this scent while reading a magazine. I thought the ad was brilliant (a beautiful model looking windswept holding a hundred balloons in bright colors) and the scent was even better. It's the perfect scent for during the day. Buy it here.

Benefit My Place or Yours Gina
This reminds me a little bit of Viva La Juicy, but this Benefit scent inspired by four imaginary beauty girls truly stands on its own. I love the scent, the vanilla, patchouli and fruits mix well together and make you feel sexy. That's important, isn't it? Buy it here.

Benefit Something About Sofia
This is one of Gina's gal pals, Sofia. Sofia is for you true individuals who like going out on limb with their fashion choices and setting the trends and not following them. This smells like a tropical fruit bowl mixed with oriental flowers. Buy it here.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue
This scent is lighter than most, but it's powerful. If you've never seen the ads, go look because that's how I would describe this perfume. It's light and airy and reminds me of being tan, on a boat, somewhere in the ocean.

Lotions

Philosophy Hope in a Jar SPF 20 Moisturizer
I got this as a sample from Sephora. I use it everyday now. It helps my skin stay protected and gives it just the right amount of moisture that my face wash takes away. It won't make you look oily and will help your skin survive the winter months! Buy it here.

Victoria's Secret Ultra-Moisturizing Hand and Body Cream
If it's one thing I know about Victoria's Secret, they do beauty products well. This body cream will show a change in your skin within a week, I know first hand because I have the most dry skin in the world. I use this everyday in Strawberries and Champagne. Buy it here.

The Body Shop Peach Body Butter
The Body Shop's Body Butter is so soft, even going onto your skin and the smell is amazing. It smells like the actually thing, not chemicals. Your skin will love you.

Body Spray

Bath and Body Works Exotic Coconut Body Splash
This reminds me of laying out in the sun. I love this scent and it's truly universal.

Carol's Daughter Mango Melange
This for those of you who are vegans or just like natural smelling body products. This stays on long and isn't too strong.

How To Wear This Season's Cargo Pants

I know, I feared the cargos too. But I actually like them. If you go back to my Spring Fashion Review, Ralph Lauren executed them perfectly. Here's a few cargos and what to wear them with. P.S....Happy New Year!!

New York & Company City Style Zip Cargo Pants
Price: On Sale for $7.99 DEAL!!!
I can't say I don't like these. They are tailored and perfect for this season. Get them while you can!

What to Wear These With:

Ralph Lauren Blue Label Slim-Fit Stretch Poplin Shirt
Price: $145
I didn't pick this shirt because her pants are khaki, I picked this shirt because it resembles something most of us have in our closets. I would tuck this shirt in (once again, not inspired by the picture).

Jessica Simpson Staria Pumps
Price: $92.00
You don't want to be matchy-matchy with accesories. Brown always compliments khaki, darker browns. I like these shoes in Cognac. They'll also add definition and length to your legs so the cargos don't cut you off.

Diane von Furstenberg Lady Leather Gladiator Sandals
Price: $295
I love gladiators and heels, so if you like both, you'll also love these. They are around the same color as the JS one, but more chic and not so classic.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

J.Crew Ripstop Cargo Pants
Price: $79.50
These pants come in three colors, I like the faded black for our next look. These pants are soft and comfortable and less formal.

What to Wear Them With:

Gap Double Knit Blazer
Price: $59.50
I like this blazer. It's not too fitted and not too loose. It's shrunken and looks super comfy...that's always what pulls me in.

Gap The Pocket Boyfriend T
Price: $19.50
This should be in your closet already. It comes in a bunch of colors, feel free to experiment!

Boutique 9 Glory Sandals
Price: $130.00
I love these sandals, I have a pair just like them. They will add a little extra to this otherwise plain outfit but won't be overwhelming with the cargos and blazer.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What to Wear With Both:

Forever 21 Brava Bracelet Set
Price: $7.80
Any simple gold bracelets would look good with either of these outfits.

Fashionable Boy: Aubrey 'Drizzy Drake' Graham

There are some boys who have never sacrificed their style, knowing what's up for the next season, always looking polished, even in sweats and t-shirt. Then there are those boys who just never found their style. *Moment of Silence*. But one boy has been catching my eye since he was on Degrassi: The Next Generation. Some of you may know him as his rapper name/middle name of Drake and then there's those true blues who know him as 'Jimmy', the kid who got shot by his classmate trying to be a hero, which left him in a wheelchair. Whatever he played or whatever name he goes by now, he's still dresses cool and there's no other name for that.

Aubrey Graham has his own blog: October's Very Own. It's as cool as him. The pictures that are about to follow are from his blog, so give him all of the credit. Drake, is one of my favorite rappers....and one of my crushes. :) This blog made me fall more in like with him. October's Very Own is a place for Aubrey to share his likes and his music, articles he finds interesting, and a place to clear up rumors. It's not updated as much as it used to be, but it's still worth going back in to March, when he first started and reading all the way up to December.

Kid Cudi (Left) and Drake (Right)

A Picture of Aubrey Drake from Interview Magazine. He's looking serious.
I'm loving the formal attire. Very James Bond.

Drake and Co. (Drake's all the way to the right) What's that he's holding?
I don't know, but he's pulling off the complete sweatsuit and the Ray-Bans.

Drake and his friend.

Simple look (besides the hat), he does it.

October's Very Own features interviews with Tom Ford from Interview Magazine and videos of Drake, himself. Aubrey updates his blog with his favorite fashion lines, his favorite shoes and his favorite people (including Megan Fox). Check him out. Thank him later.
